Case study data in this article is based off of traffic data from both PureButtons.com and StandOutStickers.com after integrating microdata schema for eCommerce.
Both of these websites integrated eCommerce based microdata schema recently. As a result it was found that both of these sites experienced a notable increase in new visitor sessions, return visitor sessions, and even an increase in revenue!

Proof is in the data! This microdata case study highlights important data points and provides before and after comparison data from 2 different eCommerce websites that were developed on the INSYTE eCommerce platform.
As part of this case study, the INSYTE marketing team randomly selected 1 month to sample data from to see how the traffic and revenue compared to the same month from last year. We'll also compare traffic data from 6 months before and after microdata was added for both websites. Lastly, we'll compare traffic from the 6 months after microdata was implemented to the same 6 month period from last year.
This is what you will be looking at as you view the data from both ecommerce sites before and after they started using microdata:

Among the increases reported after starting to use microdata, both sites experienced an increase in revenue and revenue from organic traffic sources within all comparison report data. Within the traffic and eCommerce revenue data of the first two comparison reports:
StandOutStickers.com reported a nearly 100% increase in revenue from organic traffic PureButtons.com reported over a 200% increase in revenue from organic traffic
Traffic data compared to the same month last year:
The data in this first section compares traffic and revenue from a 1 month sample, compared to the same month last year. StandOut Stickers reported a 91% increase in revenue from organic traffic, while Pure Buttons reported an over 200% increase in revenue from organic traffic within the same reporting period.

The data in the second section compares traffic and revenue data from the first 6 months after eCommerce microdata code was added, compared to the data from 6 months immediately before microdata was added to both sites. StandOut Stickers reported a 37% increase in revenue from organic traffic, while Pure Buttons reported a 83% increase in revenue from organic traffic within the same reporting period.

The data in the third section compares traffic and revenue data from the first 6 months after eCommerce microdata code was added, compared to the data from the same 6 month period last year. Pure Buttons reported a 130% increase in revenue from organic trafficwithin the same reporting period. (eCommerce conversion tracking was not enabled for the full span of the reporting period in 2015 at StandOut Stickers.)
